For Virtual Zone companies and Georgia’s IT sector as a whole, 2025 was a year of consistent and stable development, while also bringing several important changes.
Against the backdrop of legislative developments and the growing role of technology in the national economy, the Association of Georgian Virtual Zone Persons intensified its work across three strategic pillars: regulatory clarity, expansion of partnerships, and strengthening the position of the VZP sector as a critically important economic driver.
In 2025, the IT industry continued to demonstrate dynamic growth, further strengthening its position as one of the most important and fastest-growing sectors of Georgia’s national economy. Companies holding Virtual Zone status, due to their export-oriented operations and development of IT products, remain one of the core segments of Georgia’s export-driven IT ecosystem.
Throughout 2025, the Association delivered substantial results:
Provided practical explanations of new regulations, including taxation rules, IT residency, migration requirements, updates to ID cards and residence permits, and biometric standards for non-residents
Prepared analytical materials and practical guidance on new penalties for overstaying and the Law on Labor Migration, entering into force in 2026
Together with partners, the Association delivered a series of practice-oriented webinars offering direct access to expert support for its members.
International engagement was strengthened through participation in sectoral committees of partner associations and business meetings with international and institutional partners.
Actively represented sector interests in business media, emphasizing the importance of the IT industry and VZP status for Georgia’s economic developmentx
The Association actively represented and advocated for the sector’s interests in business media, highlighting the important role of the IT industry and Virtual Zone companies in Georgia’s economic development.
The Association once again confirmed its important role in shaping the IT ecosystem — as a platform that brings together IT companies, experts, public institutions, and international partners, and as an organization that consistently advocates for the interests of Virtual Zone companies.
Our priority remains unchanged — to create a stable, transparent, and favorable environment for the development of IT business in Georgia by ensuring access to information, legal support, and growth tools.
A detailed overview of the year, key milestones, and strategic priorities for 2026 is presented in the full presentation below.
