The Virtual Zone Association of Georgia was established in February 2022 as an independent non-profit organisation. Today, it is the only professional association exclusively representing the interests of companies operating under Georgia's Virtual Zone status.
In 2021, Virtual Zone companies faced widespread tax audits, inconsistent interpretations of legislation, and significant additional tax assessments. These developments highlighted the need for a professional organisation capable of representing the interests of the sector and maintaining constructive dialogue with government authorities.
The Association quickly brought Virtual Zone companies together and established a systematic approach to protecting their interests. Through engagement with government authorities, consolidation of practical cases, and expert work, it helped achieve the cancellation or reduction of unjustified tax assessments and fines amounting to hundreds of thousands of GEL. Importantly, these results benefited not only the Association's members but the wider Virtual Zone sector as well.
Our Role
The Association represents the interests of Virtual Zone companies and works to create a clearer and more favourable environment for the development of IT business in Georgia.
In its work, the Association:
brings companies together around shared positions and represents the common interests of the sector;
monitors legislative, regulatory, and industry developments and identifies possible ways to respond;
engages with government authorities and other relevant stakeholders on issues affecting the sector;
involves relevant experts and develops a partner network offering special opportunities for members;
organises webinars, professional meetings, and events on topics relevant to the sector;
creates opportunities for new partnerships, cooperation, and development.
Our Journey
2022
Establishment of the Association, bringing Virtual Zone companies together, and the launch of institutional dialogue with government authorities.
2023
Consolidation of business cases, active participation in discussions on legislative matters, and expansion of cooperation with professional and international organisations.
2024
Cancellation and reduction of unjustified tax assessments and fines amounting to hundreds of thousands of GEL, as well as clarification of tax and regulatory issues important to the sector.
2025
Expansion of educational, expert, and analytical activities, and strengthening of institutional partnerships.
2026
Development of international partnerships, publication of analytical research, introduction of new initiatives for members, and further strengthening of the Association's role as a professional representative of Virtual Zone companies.
