Meeting with the Business Ombudsman and readiness for the appealing
Nino Kvetenadze, Deputy Business Ombudsman, and other establishment staff members attended the meeting on May 18 with the chairman of Association of Georgian Virtual Zone Persons, Shorena Kopaleishvili. They discussed topical issues. The Association of Georgian Virtual Zone Persons informed the Deputy Business Ombudsman about the critical situation around the companies with the status of a virtual zone and provided the Ombudsman with materials confirming the unlawful and unscrupulous decisions of the tax authorities.
At the meeting, the Association raised three key issues that need to be resolved and discussed with the Government of Georgia within the shortest possible time. Introducing all three of them:
Cancellation of fines;
The need for the legislative initiative so that the law does not remain unclear;
Establishing clear criteria for IT companies.
Eventually, the Business Ombudsman fully agreed with the position of the Chairman of the Association on all three points and the ombudsman’s office is ready to appeal to the Government and investigate the interests of the members of the Association. In addition, the Ombudsman needs to receive specific cases to start the process of communication with the Office of the Prime Minister.
