Partnership of the Association of Georgian Virtual Zone Persons with the EU
March 14, 2024

The Association of Georgian Virtual Zone Persons, led by Shorena Kopaleishvili, Chairman of the Association, recently attended a meeting hosted by the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia within the framework of a partnership with European Economic Cooperation Platform. This invitation highlights the EU’s growing interest in Georgia’s burgeoning IT industry, recognizing its potential as a key player in the global tech landscape.

The closed-door meeting, which took place on March 11, was part of the European Union Delegation’s preparation work for the Annual Report 2024 on Georgia within the Enlargement Package framework and served as a crucial platform for the Association to voice the concerns and aspirations of Georgia’s IT sector.

The European Union Delegation convenes such gatherings to gain insights into various business sectors, assess rights protection, and understand the dynamics of cooperation between the state and businesses, as the private sector plays a key role in Georgia’s European Integration process.

The Association’s engagement in this high-profile meeting not only underscores the growing recognition of Georgia’s IT sector internationally but also highlights the increasing interest of the European Union in nurturing ties with Georgia’s tech industry.

The Delegation prepares reports based on such meetings, documenting the opinions of various sectors, including the VZP Association. These reports play a crucial role in shaping EU policies and strategies, further solidifying the importance of the Association’s representation in such meetings.

The Association of Georgian Virtual Zone Persons upholds the conduct of business in Georgia in accordance with European standards, while also nurturing transparent and stable relationships between the government and the business community, making it a valuable intermediary, fostering an environment conducive to economic development, trust, and collaboration, thereby enhancing its significance for both the government and the business community.

As Georgia continues its journey towards European integration, the Association stands as a key bridge between the country’s tech sector and the broader European business landscape.
