Strengthening Industry Standards: Insights from the USAID Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA) Training
(RIA) training focusing on the methodologies essential to the effective development of policies and regulations. This event provided comprehensive guidance on Georgia’s RIA process, as defined in Ordinance 35, with a focus on identifying policy issues, setting reform objectives, exploring policy alternatives, and evaluating the social and economic impacts of proposed regulations.
The chairman of the Association, Shorena Kopaleishvili, along with the chief financier, Beka Shukakidze, attended the training to gain first-hand knowledge and insights into the RIA process. The knowledge gained in RIA methodology, from policy design to impact evaluation, is instrumental as we work towards ensuring that future regulations are aligned with the unique requirements of our sector, especially in areas such as taxation, which directly affects business sustainability, and IT legislation, which drives the industry’s advancement. This enhanced understanding of RIA equips the Association to actively contribute to discussions on regulatory policies, advocate for the interests of our industry, and collaborate effectively with both government and private stakeholders, ensuring that the regulatory environment supports a dynamic and competitive business landscape.
The event was attended by representatives from about twenty large and sectoral associations, highlighting the collaborative effort to strengthen industry standards.
